IP Address Lookup: Find Location & Network Information
Our IP address lookup tool instantly reveals geolocation, ISP, and network details for any IP address. See your own IP address with full details, or look up any IPv4 or IPv6 address. Get city, region, country, coordinates, timezone, and organization information.
IP geolocation is used for content localization, fraud detection, analytics, security, and understanding where your website visitors come from. While not precise to street addresses, it typically identifies city and ISP accurately.
What Information Does an IP Reveal?
Geographic Location: City, region/state, country, and approximate coordinates (latitude/longitude).
Network Provider: ISP (Internet Service Provider) or organization that owns the IP.
ASN: Autonomous System Number identifying the network operator.
Timezone: The timezone associated with that location.
Connection Type: Whether it's residential, business, hosting, or VPN (with some providers).
IPv4 vs IPv6
IPv4: The original Internet Protocol using 32-bit addresses (e.g., 192.168.1.1). Limited to about 4.3 billion unique addressesโwe've essentially run out of new ones.
IPv6: The newer protocol using 128-bit addresses (e.g., 2001:4860:4860::8888). Provides practically unlimited addresses and is gradually being adopted worldwide.
Most devices today have both IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. This tool supports looking up both formats.
Common Use Cases
Security: Identify where suspicious login attempts originate.
Troubleshooting: Verify your VPN is working by checking your apparent location.
Analytics: Understand the geographic distribution of your website visitors.
Compliance: Ensure content is being served from appropriate regions.
FAQ
How accurate is IP geolocation?
IP geolocation is typically accurate to the city level (~80-90% accuracy) and very accurate for country (~99%). It cannot pinpoint exact addresses. VPNs and proxies will show the server's location, not the user's.
Why does my IP show a different city?
ISPs often assign IP addresses from regional pools. Your IP might be registered to your ISP's data center rather than your exact location. VPNs, proxies, or mobile networks can also affect the displayed location.
Can someone find my address from my IP?
No. IP geolocation only provides approximate location (city-level at best). Only your ISP knows which specific customer has which IP, and they don't share this without legal requests.
